Nurse Practitioner

National Provider Identifier-The Administrative Simplification provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) mandated the adoption of a standard unique identifier for health care providers. The National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) collects identifying information on health care providers and assigns each a unique National Provider Identifier (NPI).

NP National Marketing Campaign is a timely and potentially powerful vehicle for unified action. Through targeted efforts aimed at legislators, regulators, and payors in major media markets, from which it is expected smaller markets will feed, we will be in charge of determining our own identity. We will be able to counter and supplant in the public mind the kind of PR put out by some.

American Academy of Nurse Pratitioners offers national legislative information, practice information, certifications,NP programs, and a wealth of other information. NPNY is a member of AANP.

NP Central is a site with multiple links and articles of interest for any NP. There are pages on jobs, salaries, forms, etc. You can join several forums and lists from this site.

Interested in MENTORING a new NP via the internet? Need a MENTOR??
MENTORS   -  You don't have to know it all or have all the answers. It doesn't take up that much of your time. The purpose of the program is to provide support and guidance as the student or new grad transitions into the role of nurse practitioner. All you do is correspond by email, no more than once a week and I have found that often just a few times a month is sufficient. To qualify you need to have either three years experience as a NP or have only two years as an NP with prior RN experience. Please consider applying!!!!
MENTEES   -  Near graduation, graduated less than 1 year ago.If you are interested please go to www.nursingnet.org/npmentoring.htm and fill out an application. (SORRY, THIS SITE IS UNDER REVISION)
